Tai Chi Lineage & Martial Heritage of Jasmine Yiping Ni
*2nd-Generation Inheritor of Jingwu Tai Chi |16th-Generation Wudang Sanfeng Lineage Holder |1st-Generation Xingyun Sword Inheritor*
Foundational Lineage
Jasmine Yiping Ni was born into a traditional Chinese medical family in Sichuan and was immersed from childhood in qigong, meridian theory, breathwork, and internal cultivation practices. At the age of seven, she began studying medical qigong under her father’s guidance, and at eight, she entered systematic martial arts training—including Long Fist, Southern Fist, broadsword, straight sword, staff, nine-section whip, and Liuhe Zhuang. These early disciplines laid a solid foundation for her deep understanding of Tai Chi.
In her Tai Chi lineage, Jasmine inherits the orthodox system of Grandmaster Li Jingwu and is recognized as a second-generation inheritor of Jingwu Tai Chi. Through years of practice, she has integrated her internal martial training with her artistic background, creating a teaching style in which Tai Chi embodies strength, intention, and an unmistakable sense of artistic expression.
Grandmaster Lineage
Grandmaster Li Jingwu (1912–1997) was one of the most influential Tai Chi masters of the twentieth century, widely regarded as the bridge between traditional and modern Tai Chi. He mastered Wu, Chen, and Yang styles, becoming a rare integrator of three major lineages. As a principal creator of the 24‑Form Simplified Tai Chi, he helped bring Tai Chi to worldwide recognition. His “Jingwu Tai Chi” system is known for relaxation, circular fluidity, upright structure, and the unity of intention and energy. It integrates health cultivation, internal power, and martial application, and has been recognized as Intangible Cultural Heritage in parts of China.
Style Characteristics of Jingwu Tai Chi
Jingwu Tai Chi unifies the strengths of three major styles: the expansive upright posture of Yang style, the spiraling silk‑reeling and rooted explosive force of Chen style, and the compact neutralizing softness of Wu style. Its core value lies in strengthening the strong while nourishing the weak—offering both physical conditioning and internal healing. It is among the few internal martial systems that fully integrate health cultivation, internal energy development, and martial application.
Wudang Heritage
As the 16th‑generation inheritor of the Wudang Sanfeng lineage and the first‑generation inheritor of Wudang Xingyun Sword, Jasmine integrates the Wudang principles of body‑sword unity and cloud‑like flow into her Tai Chi sword teaching. Her Tai Chi sword embodies both internal energy and martial structure while maintaining artistic expression. Students experience the airy elegance of Wudang sword alongside the rooted calm of Tai Chi internal power.
Teaching Philosophy
Tai Chi is a flowing art of mind‑body unity—traditional yet aligned with modern movement science. It is accessible to all regardless of background. Tai Chi enhances strength, flexibility, balance, and focus while cultivating calmness, breath awareness, and emotional harmony.
Mission & Vision
太极不仅能改变身体,也能改变艺术;能滋养生活,也能滋养创意;
Jasmine’s mission is not only to bring Tai Chi into modern life—making it an accessible, understandable, and life-nourishing art for everyone—
but also to help people embrace Tai Chi as a way of living, cultivating inner peace, stability, and vibrant energy in a fast-paced world.
She is dedicated to integrating the principles of Tai Chi—its body method, breath work, softness and strength, and internal awareness—into a wide range of artistic forms, including dance, stage performance, and movement-based training. Through this fusion, the essence of Tai Chi—its relaxation, circularity, rootedness, and mind-body harmony—can be expressed and experienced across diverse creative disciplines.
She believes that:
Tai Chi can transform the body, and it can also transform art;
It nourishes life, and it nurtures creativity.
Through the balance of motion and stillness, more people can encounter strength, peace, and a more complete and inspired version of themselves.
